However, if you own a previous version of Tajima DG/ML by Pulse already, then there is a discount when updating to DG15. Also, if you own a previous version of DG/ML and want to upgrade to a higher level (ex. Composer to Illustrator Extreme), you will automatically be updated to DG15 as well at no extra charge. Your local distributor will be able to give you pricing if you're interested in updating to DG15. Just make sure they know you already own a previous version of DG/ML so you can get the discount!

Hi Chad, Currently, the best way to determine coordinates is to either use guidelines in combination with the ruler to mark a coordinate, or to simply look at the rulers, which will always have two bars (one horizontal, one vertical) that follow your mouse around. Both of these can be used to give you a fairly accurate estimate of the coordinates, and DG measurements can be displayed in millimeters or inches depending on your preference. Creating a digital indication of your mouse coordinates is a good idea though, and we would appreciate it if you could write your thoughts about this topic in the Feature Requests page as well! http://dgcommunity.pulsemicro.com/forum8-feature-requests.aspx Thanks!

Hi davperkins, Both DG15 and DG/ML14 do support the ability to create your own fonts with our font creator option, yes. This option is available in the Maestro level by default, and can be purchased as an upgrade option in Illustrator Extreme and Artist Plus levels. Once you have created a font, it can be used by anyone you share the font file with.
4/15/2015 Topic: Add International Flavor to Your Lettering Designs Tajima Software Administrator	Add International Flavor to Your Lettering Designs With increasingly multicultural societies and the prevalence of online stores, it’s easier than ever to sell to a global market. Many apparel decoration businesses are opening up their offerings to secure more international customers. One way to do this is to offer lettering and personalization in their native alphabet or character set. Software and lettering companies make specific fonts for many languages including: Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Russian, Greek, and Hebrew. Originally, these fonts were created specifically for the countries that use a particular set of characters. Now however, a trend is emerging and these fonts are being purchased by companies from all corners of the globe in order to sell to an international audience. Finding quality international fonts can be a challenge, so it’s important to do your research and view samples before making a purchase. Each alphabet or character set has its own special intricacies that need to be taken into account to ensure they are being displayed properly. You must also be aware of the difference between a traditional language font, and a font that is simply stylized. It may seem minimal to someone who isn’t familiar with a foreign language, but the application of such fonts have major differences. For example: the font on the left is a traditional Greek font written with a Greek keyboard. The font on the right was designed for American Colleges, and works by replacing English letters with Greek symbols on standard North American keyboards. In the image above, the characters are arranged by the letter they correspond to in the English alphabet and do not form a real Greek word. Another thing to keep in mind is the size of font files. Some character sets like Japanese and Chinese use a huge number of characters that could take up a lot of space and take a while to install. But, if you have the space, these could be the key to unlocking a whole new set of customers for your apparel decoration business and differentiating yourself from the competition. In most cases, you can find these international fonts being sold in packs ranging in size from three to ten fonts. These are fonts that can be used on a variety of fabrics and at many different sizes to accommodate almost any embroidery need. Hi Samx5453, Unfortunately, Tajima DG/ML14 is not compatible with CorelDraw 7. If you are using DGML14, you are able to use CorelDraw 6 or earlier for DrawFusion. CorelDraw x7 is compatible with DrawFusion in DG15 though.
5/12/2015 Topic: Auto-Kerning and Visual Kerning Tajima Software Administrator	Auto Kerning and Visual Kerning Kerning is always a hot topic of conversation amongst expert digitizers. For the beginner, kerning refers to the spacing between pairs of letters. Due to the different dimensions of each character, the spacing between certain pairs of letters needs to be different in order to get the proper look. The go-to example for this is to look at the spacing between the names Tim and Tom. You can see in the example above that “Tim” looks correct whereas “Tom” looks like the spacing is too far apart between the “T” and the “O”. The edges of the characters are spaced the same in both cases, but auto-kerning recognizes the letter pairing and corrects this mistake by bringing the “T” and the “O” closer together. When you’re purchasing embroidery software or new fonts, it’s important to ask if the fonts are optimized with auto-kerning. New software may also come with an option called Visual Kerning. This tool allows users to make edits to kerning pairs for each and every font in their software. This is now a drag and drop tool which makes the formerly tedious process very simple. Even novice digitizers can take advantage of this tool to customize how each font appears in their software.
