Seperating letters in font

How do I separate the dot on top of " I " in a name?? I need to move it over so I can add another to make it a German name. Please help!! I am new to this.

Hello, First select the letter. Right click and convert 'text to segments'. Then select all - right click and choose 'shape - breakup'. Then you can select the dot as one segment. Thank you Keri edited by pulse_keri on 12/16/2015

Hi Stacy, A non destructive way of doing this, depending on the font you are using is to use special characters, the codes for them can be found in the help section. example Using block font Hold "alt" and type in 0239 on the key board (you cannot use the numbers at the top of the key board must be the number pad keys) this will give you the I with two dots and leave the text live incase you need to make changes later . You will have access to a wide variety of special characters this way without breaking your text apart. Thank You Tim
