As soon as your design is complete you need to save the file as PXF. If you create the design and save the file as DST the design is automatically converted to a stitch file. If you open the DST and re-save as a PXF the design will still be in stitch segments.

thanks for your answer! I figured as much for the DST, but the files are saved as PXF.

They're either names or numbers that we change depending on the client's order, which is why we need to keep them as text segments, so we can easily rewrite them. I'm looking into using templates in the future, but we need to salvage our older files if we can.

What file format are the files in? In any case once the file is in stitch file format you can't really convert it back to a text segment. You can apply the stitch to outline processor but this would break up the file into multiple segment making it difficult to edit. I would only recommend doing this if you want to resize the design.

They are text files that we used to open and change the text. However when we open them in DG15, we cannot modify the text anymore. It is as though they were converted to a stitch segment. This does not occur for all of our files, but still a huge amount of them are this way.

I have checked and we have the 6279 version so it's the most up to date version. The previous files were made with fonts from the software, so it's not a question of importing a new font.
