I sure understand and appreciate the use of modern platforms in software creation, but this time Pulse have taken developement too far.
The decision to abandon 32-bit environment and only support 64-bit makes it impossible for us to use DG15.
Important functionalities in DG15 doesn't work unless we update Microsoft Office to 64-bit but that is not an option for us.
Microsoft only recommend 64-bit Office installations in very specific cases. Their advice is to always use the 32-bit version.
Should we go to 64-bit Office anyway?
Well, it's possible, but it would set our shop order system, our accountant system and our CMR-system out of order.
Sad that we are unable to use the best embroidery system.

Hello Conny,

Pulse develops programs to best take advantage of new technology so that we can continue to provide the best embroidery software experience possible to our users. Tajima DG15 by Pulse does require 64-bit processing, which greatly improves the speed of many of it's features. However, most 32-bit programs will still run perfectly on a 64-bit Windows operating system, and in the case of MS Office, you can open 32-bit documents in the 64-bit version as well with no issues. If you do decide to upgrade your Windows OS, it shouldn't affect the files used in your current systems.

If you'd like, we can have someone call you to speak about this issue to find the best solution possible.

Thank you for your continued support of Pulse products.

Hi again!
The problem we have with DG15, using 'Export - Email design...' was very soon discovered when the Beta-testing started. The lack of support for Outlook in 32-bit version.
Since we are digitizing for both in-house use and for others, we use the 'Export - Email design...' on a daily basis and it is a function that is invaluable for us.
We use Librarian for saving all designs and do not desire the need to save pxf, dst, images and worksheets for every design. That extra workload would be needed if we were to stop using the export function.
As soon as we noticed this problem, we started to investigate the consequenses of changing Ms Office installations to 64-bit versions and those are the reasons for us to decide not to go that path.
None of our important core systems will be able to use Outlook-interactions with 64-bit versions and since Microsoft do recommend everyone (or at least most users) to use the 32-bit version, non of them have any plans for updating them to work with 64-bit Outlook as long as Ms stays with their 32-bit recommendations...
So, it's not your softwares 64-bit qualities that causes problems, it's the lack of 32-bit support!

Hi Conny,

Alex here .

Αs a start I wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy new year 2015 once we are entering the holiday period.
The issue with 32 or 64 support in reality is not in a software company or user hands since we are all depended on the technology development
32 bit support will be history soon as history is:
16bit support
5 1/4 floppy disks
3 1/2 floppy disks

Following the path of development we had to support 64 bit in DG15 always taking under consideration our customers benefits from our decision.
As far as I can understand at this moment the only issue is the export email design in a 64 bit computer due to the 32 bit Office installed .
Could you not update to the 64bit Office version in your computer? Sooner or later all Microsoft product will only support 64 bit and upwards anyway

With friendly regards

Alex

Hi Alex!
Please read what Microsoft says in that matter here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee681792(v=office.15).aspx
Deploying the 64-bit Microsoft Office will cause loss of functionality for our internal order system, our CMR-system and our accounting system since they all are closely interacting with Microsoft Office and none of them have even started to look at updating their systems to support 64-bit. All three of them I have been in contact with are referring to Microsoft Office TechNet article above. Those systems are far too important to our company than DG15...

Hi Conny,

It basically says that most applications do not support yet 64-bit which is also the case with your CMR and internal ordering system.
Sooner or later everybody will have to follow on 64-bit support anyway .
Until then you need to decide if all benefits DG15 is providing are off benefit to you or if the export design is most important.
The important part is that we develop further in new technologies keeping our customers updated in the edge of technology.

Best Regards

Alex

I agree with you, Alex. Sooner or later everyone will need to update to 64-bit support. I just feel it's sad that the leading manufacturer of embroidery software feel the need of being further on the edge of computing technology than Microsoft.
Merry Christmas!

Hello Conny,

I would like to note that we are currently looking into a solution for this issue. We notice that many of our users still use 32 bit email clients, which may affect their ability to use this feature in DG15.

I am moving this thread to the Feature Request area, as it will require an addition to the program to complete.

Thank you for informing us.

That's true, Mark!
